ELEPHANT HOUSE OFFICE BUILDING

  • LONDON,

  • 2008

Refurbishment and extension of an old brewery located in a three-storey Victorian building called Elephant House.  The intervention proposes the renovation of the existing building so to adapt it to its new office use.  Two new buildings aside of the original Elephant House make the new extension.  That is in the courtyard facing the street from where to access the overall compound, and on the site next to Regents Canal.  A large atrium stands out as the main spatial reference around which all three buildings are organized, ensuring a continuous thermal envelope.  With such large atrium, the meeting between old and new buildings is successfully resolved.
